Scott, great exposure, and lighting. Bird looks pretty sharp too. I'd prefer no motion blur on the wings and you'd probably need faster than 1/1000 of a second to do that. Something funky is going on with they eye, but maybe just its membrane is closed? There's a sharpening halo around the bird.

Scott - How did ya manage to get this at 150mm? Friendly/tame bird, or was this part a workshop/exhibit?

    Keep up the good work!

i was walking along my local river when noticed this fella land on a low tree branch watching something on the ground, this was a quick shot as i had the lens locked at 150mm and this is a (cropped) version, as for the backround i removed some distracting mose from the tree trunk(i think it was moss it was green)
just lucky that day as its a rare site round here.

Hi Scott: Pretty nice photo to have caught in such a suprise way. Too bad about that eye wink though. I agree with the above and wish you had more room on the left. Not a lot of time to think about those things when a hawk jumps right down in front of you on a river walk, eh? Thanks for posting.

    Hi Scott
Pretty nice grab shot! I personally like the motion blur in the wings. Shame about the eye but well done anyway!
    Best,
    Nicki
