    This is a dorsal view of the Warty Hammer Orchid from Perth Western Australia. I don't normally use flash on flowers but on some of these orchids I really like the look of the dark background to accentuate the detail. I shall post the side view next post.

    Very cool and different shot!
    I too thought it was a bug!

    I do feel that making the BG even darker as it is and thereby removing some of the branches (and dust-spots)form the BG would highly improve this original photograph!

    whoa very cool indeed - I too thought this was some kind of insect! The water drops are a nice touch and I too like the contrasty bg!
