These Hawks really like to soar so they pretty much stay perched until the mid morning coastal winds pick up
then they take flight utilizing the thermals and updrafts to keep them in the air. It really is fun to watch as I have a better understanding of this species....

Hi James: You've got to stop! You're killing me with these amazing BIF's. One is as awesome as the next. My favorite so far is the one where you could really see the red on the tail but this one is razor sharp and beautiful as well. You must be right on top of these guys with that 70-200 1.7. Good job.

Hey James, Danny said it all - one great shot after the other of these hawks. As a matter of interest, what are you standing on to be able to capture these guys at eye level? Killer BG BTW, and well captured.

Amazing flight shot this at eye level, the bird seem to be focussed on something that it loves. The eyes are so intense

Indeed they do enjoy flying. I have made that same conclusion myself. Sounds and looks like you may have found a terrific shooting opportunity with these guys. I think the contrast and/or the sharpening on the bird looks a tad too much from my view--but other than that, a beautiful capture of this guy!
