This image was taken this morning, as I was posting on another BPN board. It of the newly returned Sandhills that frequent the area, returning to our backyard. While we have resident Sandhills, they don't seem to come around here much until fall/winter returns. Now they are here daily making life much more enjoyable from our lanai (the plant in on our lanai). The Black-bellied Whistling ducks also have returned as noted in the left side of image and across the lake. Egrets, Anhingas (riding the geese decoys) and Great Blue Herons round out the wintering residential flock. In the past we've also had Wood Storks around, but not the last few years. Given the size of the retention pond (Lake) we have a good representation of the flock.

Sometimes nearer is worth the view as well.

    Enjoy!

Thanks Al & Harshad for viewing and comments. Appreciate it.

I agree Al, hope we are both right. We have more birds here already this year than I remember since we moved here in '05. Lack of the Hurricanes this year might help. Hopefully they will stay away for the rest of the season as well.

Thanks Gus for viewing and comment. Appreciate it. However, if they got any closer I couldn't focus! Also have to abide by the HOA rules! :( The Sandhills followed me to the mail box the other day and were about arms length away at the time. Camera was in the house, but the experience was worth it. ;)

I modified this image in PS, as the original wasn't the best. I shot it through the window as I did not want to frighten them off and was busy with other tasks at the time.
