I like the soft light, sharpness and those saucer-like eyes. It is a bit tight in the frame for my taste and I would tone down the whites some more. I'm assuming this is a wild bird, right?

Yes this is a wild bird .. we found 3 in one tree. I have shots of all three, unfortunately not together .. it would have been nice to post the other shots as well.

I also agree this image been extraordinary!
But too tight in the frame, you could upload an even larger image. Love the eyes of these owls.

Adding the additional canvas will need to wait until tomorrow but here's a larger image.

Such cute looking owls, and their heads seem too big for their bodies. Lovely button type eyes, and getting all three would really have been first prize.

    Hi Malcolm,
The focus and detail on this little guy is great. Can't wait to see some of the other pictures. I must find out Ray's secret to finding these owls. We are supposed to have plenty of them here in British Columbia but I have yet to run into one in the wild.

I think cuteness can be spelled in 4 letters "OWLS". This is one such picture that will remain in the memory for a long time.

Superb effort Malcolm, i don`t think we will have luck like that for a while!.. yes, maybe a little tight in the frame, but a wonderful view of a beautiful bird.

Fantastic detail and great exposure. Neat! I would prefer a little more room for it in the frame.

Thank you everyone for the taking the time to have a look and for the kind comments. I agree, the image is a bit tight ... next time I'll make sure to have the right lense :) .. the 300 was a bit too much and unfortunately I couldn't back up any further.

What a fabulous capture. You did a great job handholding when you consider how sharp this photo is and the detail is amazing. The whites look right on to me and seem to have detail. I do agree on the crop being a bit tight, but you have winner here.
