hated to use ISO 800, had didn't know how else to get the pic in the low light. (As Al keeps saying, "no flash" :D)
oh, baby is 4 weeks old and really is the cutest baby bird I have ever seen, contrary to this large crop.

    Excellent Cheryl,
I like the tight portrait. The details and color rendition are superb...the eye makes it for me...looking forward to your next one...

I like it, maybe remove some on the catchlights and clean-up that area of the eye - well done. Composition is unique, nice lens and I am impressed with the high ISO on your 40D.

Jeff, I thought about removing some of the catchlights, I remember that you critiqued that on one of my other images. But since there were there, I hesitated to remove them. The eye looked too flat with all the details removed except one catchlight. I must be missing something on how to do that well.

(I did remove the reflection of my hand trying to get the baby to down toward the camera, though. :) )

    Cherly,

I am looking at images on my 24 inch Eizo ColorEdge monitor. The eye is the staple of the image and I am seeing things on a big display. The picture is fine as is, I only offer suggestions based on my perspective. However, to clean it up, the clone tool should work?

    High impact image, Cheryl !

Not sure why you would like to remove the eye catchlights. Many would rather have them than without :) Anyhow, I enhanced the contrast, especially the eye. Hopefully it has improved the look of the eye. I also cropped the image a bit.

    So there, my $0.02 :)

love the composition Cheryl - gorgeous, I think the general consensus is that there should only be 1 catchlight in the eye.
    Desmonds repost works for me.
    Great job!!!

Very nice composition, I love the half face portrait very much. Amazing eye this chick has. Might try to run another NR on some area (like the beak).

Love the composition and overall feel !!! One sweet image

Could you have used like a macro lens further back on a tripod? Just thinking possibilities ... catchlight wise would only keep one !!!

a macro lens would have been nice. its one of the future purchases I would love to make. a tripod would have helped part of the time, part of the time he was trying out his wings. I got to see him learn to fly! too much fun.
    here he is, full view.

Cheryl, to me the owl in the original looks much, much better. I like the sharpness and the details it's showing.

What kind of owl is that?
