Doug and I had a great day at the zoo. This is a captive Mute Swan that loves to bite toes or whatever else it can get hold of. ;)

Nice whites, did you provide shutter speed?

I like the head shot, maybe a little tight at the bottom, great eye and fine detail - well done.

totally agree with Jeff's comments. great details and eye contact. would also like to see more of the neck, if possible. didn't know they had blue eyes!

    Hi Kristin,
I like the close up pose...your whites are in check, and you have good color rendition, I would add canvas to the bottom, its a wee bit tight, and selective sharpen the eye just a tad more...looking forward to your next one...

It was a gorgeous morning and a great time Kristin! You nailed the whites and your sharpness is excellent. A small saturation boost, a bit more contrast, and more neck ;) would have strengthened this image. Here's a quick repost that tries to address all of those issues.

Hi Kristin - dougs repost is on the money - just small tweaks but a big overall improvement. Good job on the whites - nice detail in the eye.
    Good show :)

Very good exposure, nice details and sharpness. I also like the water droplets too. The repost with more room at the bottom put this even better.

For my continuing education, was the EV set at -1, or were you so tight on the head that no compensation was required?

Dave, no neg exposure comp. I shot a few with -EC and liked this more. It was early in the day with light cloud cover.

    Love the framing Kristin

Exposure comp wise it depends on your metering mode and how much white you have in the frame. As you move away and have less white the bg will come into play and open the meter trying making the scene neutral grey !!

Hi Krisitin, Nice job on the exposure and detail, I know all that white is not so easy to do well, so congrats!
