    Found this young gun a couple seasons back near Bear Lake here in northern Utah...

    40D w/ 400 5.6L
    1/50 f/5.6 iso100

    I like the color layers of the vegetation and the pose of the moose (especially the position of the ears between the antlers). Fur detail looks a bit softer than your usual offerings. Curious about your selection of 100 ISO given the resultant shutter speed?

    You have exposed the dark hide nicely, and I like the pose. Lovely colourful enviroment. Well captured John.

    Beautiful composition and pose John. Love the eye contact and the lovely contrasting colors in the BG and FG. Well done.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

    Steve - this guy was so stoic and still that I had time to lock down the lens on the tripod and see how the 400 5.6 did with slower shutter speeds... I think I even used mirror lock on this image. So it was more experimentation than the primary settings of choice. :)

    Like the details in the blacks. I also like the difference in color in the vegetation in the foreground and the background.
