... or more correctly, through it. This image is shot through a knot hole in the side of a covered bridge. Obviously there is a limited field of view through a knot hole so I came up with the best comp that I could and then tried to jazz the image up in Topaz Adjust where I did some minor adjustments before going into Simplify and backing off of the BuzSim preset just a bit. This is what I came up with. I like the idea but am not 100% sold on the image. Your thoughts?

I think it works because I love the view through the knot hole and I want to see more of it. I wonder if a square crop might be better?

Ed, Cool idea and I think you did a great job enhancing the scene. For me I might put it more into the ROT and add a bit more perspective and depth to the area so it looks more (for lack of a better term-"Tunnel like") Maybe a slight vignette would do the trick. Either way -it's unique and different and very creative!

    Nice image and application, Ed.

I might have exaggerated the offset from center more. But ...

    Your image ... your vision.

Ed, I like the idea a lot, but wish the scene through the knot hole was more interesting. Of course, just my opinion.

Ed, "Through the Looking Glass" is the first thing I thought of. Very creative:)

Appreciate the feedback and suggestions. I too puzzled a bit over placement in the frame. I considered a square crop and I move the hole around in the frame. I couldn't decide then and I still can't decide. Move it more to the left and its too centered. Move it more to the right and the black area to the left starts looking too vast. Maybe square would be best.

Christopher, I too wish the view out the hole was more interesting. The view out a knot hole is limited and I just couldn't move it so I was kinda stuck with what was there. that was the primary reason I went with the Topaz treatment. I felt it pepped up the comp a little bit.
