    Default Varied Thrush

Here's a species I dont see posted all that often. They are however one of my favourites here on Vancouver Island :)

It must be the day for birds with spectacular color. It must be awesome living in BC. The background and blacks and whites look great but the eye is a tad hard to see in its nested black background. Would it be possible to pull it out from the shadows a bit? If not, I still love this bird and this photo. Thank you.

Beautiful pose, BG and details here. I have never even heard of this bird before your picture. I think I would try lightening the black stripe through the eye and by the beak just a tad.

    Great looking bird Glenn.

Very nice pose and killer BG. Those nails reminds me a raptor.

Lovely image, Glenn. Soft light, pose and BG all very nice. We have lots of them here in the summer(that single note nasal electronic telephone call is near constant), but find them to be very secretive and shy. Excellent.

I, too, love the BG and the bird in general. I would only add that as well as brightening up the eye, the head in general seems a bit dark compared to the lovely breast colours.

I like this a lot. Good HA, backgrnd, sharp. I also like the pose. Not sure you had optimum light angle, just going by the shadow under the head and on the mask. Beautiful bird, and a shot to be proud of.

I believe I would get a whiplash injury, if my eyes ever caught a glimpse of this bird. Beautiful bird. You did an excellant job showing him off.

Hi Glenn - this is a wonderful image, everything is spot on. My only wonder is whether the darks are a bit to the blue side. Even male Varied Thrush are intensely black rather than blue. But it could be my monitor.
    Cheers
    Gail
