    Default Harrier on a Hunt

    Attached Images Attached Images

this is juv female montagus harrier, found her hunting grasshoppers. this was when she was diving on one. she is quite a acrobatic hunter and fun to watch.

    spec: 1/800, F 7.1, -1/3, ISO 400

    Canon 40D + 500mm + 1.4TC

I thought that single tall grass on the right adds, but not very sure.

Kiran Bhai, This is a very different angle/perspective. I love it, wing and tail spread awesome, FG grass and BG really brings out the Harriers beautiful colors. The dangling feet/talons big plus and she sure looks hungry. Is this your first in flight that you've posted here? Great job capturing the action, Congrats

Hey brother, great hunting angle, and good to see the prepared talons. I can almost feel her thinking "where did the little blighter go?" The Harrier pops so well from the BG. Well captured, and congrats on a fine image.

Nice work capturing this unusual posture. Bird is nicely separated from a pleasing contrasting BG.

I like the sharpness of the bird against the green BG. The hunting behavior is nicely captured. I don't mind the lack of eye contact because of what the bird is doing.

    Kiran:

Lovely colors, just the right blend of action and environment, like the grass on right, nice wing and tail flare.

She is right on the edge of being oversharpened for my taste, but presents well.

    Congrats.

Kiran - Yours is the second harrier today and its as beautiful as the first. I love the color, the action, the composition...."did I mention color?" I had to look at the photo for a minute to figure out where the right wing went! That just made it cooler. When I see these BIF shots, I feel like I need to be out in my field watching every minute of the day ---- but I have to work!!!!! Thank you.

I like the wide crop, unusual pose, sharpness and light. The grass adds interest.

The grass has to stay, IMO. that looks great there, I even believe that it helps in balancing your image. As mentioned above, the light and behavior of the bird is killer.
