Loved the low angle, angle of light and the details in the blacks. The water droplets add a lot to the image. A little CCW rotation is needed IMO. A beautiful and unique capture. We dont usually see many coot photos in this pose. Thx for sharing.

Agree about the rotation but don't mind the crop IMO. Love the wing position and BG. The eye really makes him stand out and great job exposing his dark plumage. Congrats

Excellent exposure on the blacks, and well timed to capture the flapping wings. I just love the BG colours. I would maybe move him back a tad to the left, and add to the top.

Love the light pose and details in the black and under the wing.

    Manos:

Indeed, an unusual pose for a coot, great timing.

Nice detail in the blacks. The bill is blown. I opened it in ACR, and even lowering the exposure by 4 stops, the bill still had blown highlights. As posted, I started to get rid of the blinkies at 100% setting of the recovery slider.

My point is, these are incredibly challenging to get a correct exposure on, unless the light is very soft. I would say its even tougher on their bill, than white feathers are on a loon for example.

Another vote for a slightly looser crop, more top, bottom and to the right. Not much.

    Cheers

    Randy

Manos - As many coots as I see when I'm duck hunting, I never noticed how beautiful they are until all the photos started coming in this year. I like the action in this one and the little red eyes. The little birdy's bill seems to be overdone a bit on my computer. If you can pull that back a bit your shot will be even better. Thank you.

I like the angle, sharpness, pose and BG. Rotation has been mentioned and I might remove the bright spots on the neck.
