One of the hummers from Costa Rica. This is the male White-Necked Jacobin. From this angle, clear to see why. From the front, you'd never know why.

The heads on these guys are pretty dark. I liked this exposure as it showed off the beautiful back and the iridescence of the head.

Perfect flash work and colours are awesome in this image. BG still needs a bit of noise repair though.
    Well done Keith:)

Great flashwork, and I like the iridesence. Turning his head slightly more towards you would have helped.

    Hi Keith!
I love the pose and perch and irridescence as presented and you have done a fine job with the exposure. I too see some noise in the BG but it does not unduly bother me.
    Happy memories!!
    Best,
    Nicki

A real beauty Keith! Wish we were standing there now! I'm seeing the noise in bg also, easily fixed I'm sure.

Looks like a shot at the Forest Feeders at Naturalista. Looking forward to getting back there in April, as I'm sure you are. Beautiful iridescence and sharpness. As mentioned above, a slight head turn would have been nice.

    Very pretty one Keith.

Love this species as well. As mentioned above the head could be turned towards you a bit more but it doesn't bother me that much. BG noise has been mentioned too. Hope you can come next year.
