    Big Warm welcome Craig !!!!!

I like the idea of a second bird behind as a mirror image, with these you have all other elements applying .. the biggest thing here is both are looking slightly away and the focus seems to be on the female. I like having the bird up front tack sharp.

would also try lightening the face of the male, they need the light just right to be lit up. Corp wise might like a little less at the bottom, perch is substantial so you want to minimize (just a bit) and if you have it more room on the left.

I figure you were trying to include the upper green which looks beautiful but would try a horizontal with more room for the ducks to look into !!!

Contest wise don't worry much since its all int the judges and they vary, this year I had on image making the finals at the BBC and did not even made it to NANPA top 250 !!! .... btw mighty fine image !!! ... would also suggest posting at the max size for easier evaluating can go 1024... I post most of mine at 800.

    Hi Craig,
A big warm welcome to the BPN family. Agree with the sound advise given by Mr. Forns. I addition, you can crop a little off the perch at the bottom, just above the white knot in the wood...looking forward to your next one...

Welcome, bright BG probably caused the picture to be slightly over exposed. What type of metering are you using, if AV apply EV to compensate (e.g., +1/3).

Welcome, I love waterfowl and this is a great nature shot. Love the perch and feet showing - well done.
