Nice sharpness and I love the two tone BG. Wing position not too bad but wished it didn't intersect with his head, I'd also like more room to the right. Looks like Utah is a great place to find Raptors. Congrats

I like the fight angle, together with the light and colours. I would maybe selectively sharpen him a tad. Killer BG John.

Love the warm light and that classic two-tone BG. I might have stopped down to f/7.1 or f/8, as it seems you had plenty of light. I would add some canvas to the right of the bird. You appear to have a couple of dust bunnies on your sensor. Overall a nice image John!

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Doug... I took a look at the sequence, and those 'bunnies' may have been some distant birds, as the exact same location on the sensor in the other images in the sequence do not show the same blips.

Here is new processed version, with more on the right, which was actually captured on the origianal frame...

You have the BG rule of thirds dialed in and a sweet BG to boot!
The low flight path of the bird is nice as well! Wish it were my image. :)

    John:

Lovely colors, but I am with Stuart here. On my monitor, the eye/face isn't critically sharp, esp. on the repost.
Certainly shouldn't be a shutter speed issue, I wonder about where you focus point was? Both the wings look shaper to me than the head.

    Randy
