Default American white pelican( with 2 reposts. which is the best?)

From yesterday morning. I made some good use of the extra hour we got here( in the US after our version of summer time ended). 40D; 300 f/4 non-IS + 1.4x; f/5.6; 1/3200; iso 320. no flash.

I have some other images that have more traditional poses....but I liked this one the best. something different.

    All comments and critiques welcome.

    Thx in advance

I must add...some usm on the bird and some NR on the BG. I was a bit sloppy with that and am sure you will see the proof of that in some spots :-)

Funny pose! I can see why you chose this one :-) Good low angle, but I'm not crazy about the horizon line crossing the head. Despite the primaries being black I'm finding the rest of the image a bit washed out...I tried darkening the midtones via levels and liked the result. I also found the WB a bit off...a little too yellow? Anyhow, adding blue (just a small bit - do not overdo it) in color balance neutralizes this nicely.

fantastic shot kaustubh. 1 round of NR over the bg would enhance a bit more. like the HA, wing position and the sharpness. exposure is bang one for the white.

a repost with more blue and a little underexposure. This is quick and dirty work. I will spend more time on this one tomorrow. Thx everyone for the suggestions. They are as usual very helpful.

Now this is a different pose, and a great low angle of capture too. Overall sharp and well exposed. I actually like your OP.

Really like this Kaustubhe. I prefer your original with the soft light. Great pose and fantastic detail in the ruffled feathers.

incorporated all the suggestions. changed the cast a bit. reduced some mid and low tones. added more room around. did some more NR on the BG. What do you think? Thx in advance

The last post definitely works best for me. Love the pose which is different. You have great details in the whites. Looks better with the color cast removed and a bit more room. Wonderful capture.!
