    Default Assignment: Color

This guy had his eye on a meal so I was able to paddle around and get some nice color in the background.

    Kayak, Canon 50D, 500mm f/4 + 1.4x 1/500 sec f/5.6 ISO 1600

Highest shutter speed possible was needed due to the undulations in the kayak, hence ISO 1600.

    Thanks for looking!

    Finally got it.

    Hope it's worth the trouble.

    Hi Colin,
I like the image and capture. You have good color rendition and fine feather details, I also like the multi - colored background...a few points to consider...the bird is tight in frame, you need to add more canvas to the right and more to the bottom for the feet...the head angle is off, the bird needs to rotate his head CCW and an upward tilt, because he is looking down...would recommend selective sharpening the eye...looking forward to your next one...

Agree with Gus, nice review. Cool concept with the kayak, opens up lots of possibilities. I love the background and colors. Maybe a tad soft, good for 700MM of focal length on the water.

Thanks Jeff. And it could use some sharpening. The only thing I did was correct white balance.

Thanks Cheryl. It's straight out of the camera so I'm certainly open to PP suggestions. Contrast is a good one.

Love the color in the background which show fall environment well, glad that you paddled around to get this background. Nice pose with both feet visible, and I like how the perch/log end on the right. HA maybe off a bit but I like the determination look in it. Agree about being too tight in the frame. Other than sharpen I might suggest a round of NR on the background too.

Image in the first post has been edited and incorporated most of the comments.

Personally, I like it tight in the frame.

    Thanks for all the help!
