    Default Female Canvasback II

Here's another from my encounter with the female canvasback duck on Friday. This time I took your advice and did a pano crop to help keep the water reflections from overpowering the bird.

Nice image Julie.I like the pano crop and the exposure seems spot on. The ony thing I wish for would be a lower angle. This maybe have also assisted in eliminating the glare.Although I'm not sure what kind of BG this would have given you and perhaps it wasn't possible. I'm still waiting to see one of these in Newfoundland.......someday!

Lovely monochromatic palette, well framed and exposed. I'm with Dan on the low angle, but that may not have been possible. TFS.

Hi Julie, the pano works well, and interesting colours in this. I would maybe selectively sharpen the head a little. Well captured.

I like this too, Julie. It works well considering the light you were working with.
Lower angle would have been killer if possible.

Gosh, if only I could have gotten lower! This small lake is at the bottom of a pretty steep incline and sitting down is about as low as you can get without sliding right into the water. I'll keep trying to get her to go to the other side where the angle would be better. Still, she's not as accustomed to people and cameras as the other ducks are so getting her in range even with the 400mm was a challenge.

Thanks for the comments...I'll keep working at it!

    Great looking duck Julie!
I am with the above comments regarding a lower shooting position but understand that is not easy some times.

I like that the tones of the bird and the tones of the water match. Could have used a bit more room behind for those virtual (swimming) feet.

lower angle mentioned , I would add some space in rear of bird and crop it in 3 x 2 aspect

Artie, I can definitely add more room for the feet - no problem. I'll look at that 3x2 aspect ration as well Harshad...thanks!
