An amazing match of camoflage between the owl and the bark Harshad. The tree hole looks rather heart shaped. All in all a very classic looking owl shot--one you sure were fortunate to happen upon. I would imagine he sleeps there often -no? Post some more details about the expirience with this awesome little fellow!

    Is this an english-only forum?

Great natural shot of a beautiful owl. I like the crop and framing.

Harshad, I too like the heart-shaped tree hole. Really blends in well w/ it's surroundings.

Love the natural camouflage in this image. I would crop a bit off the top just above the heart shaped hole so the shape reallly stands out. Might also tone down the left side of the breast and hole so it doesn't look quite so hot. Did you try bringing up the eyes any as well?

Really cool image, though. What a great catch.

These Scops owls have the most amazing camouflage, and this image shows that perfectly. He looks comfy in there. I like the heart shape of the entrance to his den. Thanks for sharing Harshad.

    Very nice owl and nest!
Its feathers are a great camouflage. I would crop on top a little if this were mine.

Harshad-bhai, Loverly as above but not perfect. Could you have moved to your left a bit? You did pretty well with the relatively harsh, off-angled light.

Guruji , Yes light was harsh (10.30am ) , as in NP no chance of getting down and to my left there was big thick branches , I know this is not perfect and will try to improve next time ,

Thanks Harshad. (No need for down.) Moving to the left even two-three inches might have helped. Do you know why???

Thanks. Not only would the bird have been facing the lens a bit more the huge difference is that by getting right on light angle the sliver of the sunlit interior of the nest hole would have been in the shade thus eliminating the biggest problem....

PS; I just checked; there are lots of blown highlights.... Assuming that you tried to Recover during conversion you needed to capture darker...

wonderful capture Harshad., i would be hoping for a light cloud to pay a visit!.. Interesting critique from Artie, but I personally do not think 3 inches would have made a difference.

I also would like to know what Mr. Blinders issue is.

Agree on the need for a light cloud but can assure you that three inches to the left would have eliminated the sunlit portion of the nest hole. Please remember that I have been doing this for 27 years and do not make suggestions for the purpose of blowing smoke.....

It is a fantastic perch and I think re-visiting the place would bring some more pleasing result. Very nice one, Harshad and I am looking forward to see more. Congratulations.

At this 600 mm range, considering the distance to the subject, imo, 3 inches would make no difference to the shot Artie, I have been doing this for 4 years, and I think I am entitled to my opinion.
