    Hi Oscar,
I like the interaction here. I like the facial expression and the intense look...the image is a tad under exposed, you might want to open up the mid-tones and adjust your black point. How was it at Crandon this morning?

I adjusted the white point; the black was already clipped when I looked at the histogram in CS4 Levels. Maybe I don't understand Gus's suggestion???
Otherwise this is one very wonderful image.
    Congrats

How does histogram look, Gail say's too much left needs EV adjustment. Maybe via levels, curves or histogram etc. Nice interaction and great eyes. Love the two subjects together. Would S&H help?

It is a tad underexposed and I thin what Gus meant was the other black .... moving the white over :)

Different image and love the mood captured !!!! I think only these guys and the Egyptians are doing well at Crandon.... we used to have so many birds !!!

Lovely interaction! Agree on the exposure and might wish for a better HA on the mother, but still a very nice image.

I agree about the underexposure, and can't see why a negative EV compensation was used, could be because you were metering off the light background? In any case, trying to get two birds in reasonable focus usually will require a substantial depth of field, the closer they are to the lens, the more important this is. F4, I would surmise, is too shallow. I would guess that you tried to remedy the exposure problems with the shadow/highlight tool in PS, and some halos resulted. If you don't already, try to do this in your RAW converter(like ACR), before opening in an image editor. Nasty stuff like halos can be avoided substantially.
    Great interaction and composition. regards~Bill

Great title and interaction Oscar. Wonder if you can go back in camera raw and lighten it a bit. Where have you been?:)
Tough picture to tackle and I think you did a pretty good job.
