They are very busy with building nests and courting which gives good opposrtunities to capture them. Captured at the Mankwe hide in the Pilansberg National Park.

What a beauty! Love the complimentary background colors, the angle, eye contact, detail, and beautiful wingspread! There does seem to be a little red fringing on the under-side of the bird. Congrats!

Outstanding capture Gerrie. I guess a little more shutter speed or DOF would have helped on the wing definition? In any case, the body looks very sharp, and a very strong presentation. Congrats.

Hi Gerrie, I really like how you were able to capture the bird with the head being sharp and with good eye contact. I also think the depth of field you achieved makes this a stronger image. The blurred wings provide a sense of motion that adds some excitement. Add in a nice background and it all adds up to one fine image. Thanks for sharing.

Songbirds in flight are just about the hardest images to make. Wish this one was mine! I wonder about that red spot under the throat, is it a loose feather from the far side?

I like the light, angle, BG sharpness and wing position. It's amazing that there is so much wing blur at this shutter speed.

Gerrie, this is awesome! Pure excellence regarding comp., BG and DOF. I only found the colors a bit dull and the overall image a bit dark. Just applied levels with the following result, making those wonderful colors really pop. Hope you don't mind me fiddling with your image.
    Kind regards,

    Jerry.

Hi Gerrie, well done on capturing this extremely fast flyer. Love how you got the wings level, and as Axel stated, you still didnt manage to freeze the wings at 1/3200.
