Caught this one with strong side lighting. Not often I save images with that kind of light but the pose illustrates the spunky character of this species (Carolina Chickadee). Comments welcome.

    Dean:

It is a fun image, and I like Chickadees too. A constant presence at my feeders.

The low shutter speed let in a bit of motion blur, as the perch looks sharper than most of the bird. DOF could have been a bit deeper too, but of course these two work against each other. I might have been tempted to crank up the ISO a bit. I will always trade a little noise for a sharper image.

Looks like a sharpening halo around the top of the head.

    Thanks for sharing.

Liked this when I first saw it Dean. IMV has great potential. hope you don't mind, but felt with some TLC, we can draw what you saw.

step 1. Quick selection and via new layer via copy, did some smart Sharpen at 60% 0.6. Flatten and did a quick selection on head again. Smart sharpen at same settings and took it ok.
step 2. Selection on bright flank and darkened by adjusting brightness to about -17.
step 3. quick selection on head bright area and adjusted brightness again.
step 4. Selection on bg and ran nr filter over.
    step 5. Brightened eye catchlights.

    Hope ok. Cheers, Dave
