One of my first shots I'd show anyone...a swan in the courtyard of the Marriot in Hawaii. 1/500 , f.3.6, iso 200, flash used. hand held. some burning done in PS.

Nice pond reflection. IMO maybe too much foreground, it stalls my eye some. Of course, better if subject is facing camera and a clean, bright eye is showing. Its hard to take a bad shot in Hawaii and you did well, thanks for sharing.

Hi Hazel - Lovely scene - IMHO the swan is too centered in the frame, he appears to be the main subject and the lack of a visible eye, makes my eyes wander around the scene and whilst there is plenty of interest - nothing really grabs my attention and holds it.

    Looking forward to seeing more:)

    Hi Hazel,
This is a beautiful scene. This fellow must be very happy living there...:D I agree that he is too centered in frame, and is lacking details in the head area. I would also take just a little from the bottom and a tad off the top. Looking forward to more...

i think closer and lower to the water would have made this one sing. i'd like to see more up top and the swan more prominent in the frame. a different position would have fixed that. i agree, it is a beautiful scene. i love tropical settings.

Agree with suggestions !! Just a couple of tweaks would make a difference, do like the overall feel and the tech part, did well with exposure holding the whites in check !!!

The setting is nice but I think there are too much going on here, my eye can't seem to fix on the main subject. Agree about changing the angle and put the swan more prominent.
