Great pose. You managed much better underwing detail and lighting than I did on a recent 'coming-a-you' Eagle shot the other day. Looks like a bit of sharpening might help.

Hi John - love the pose - straight on direct eye contact - very powerful feel.
I would probably prefer the uncropped version with wings not clipped - just my personal taste though.
Does appear a little soft - some additional sharpening will help, I would also selectively sharpen and work on the eyes just a tad.
    Like it a lot!!!!!

exposure looks spot on to me and i like the in your face crop. i just dont like the loss of detail associated with it. as lance said, may be able to bring some back with a little more sharpening. there does seem to be a halo around the top side of the bird.

I would have also preferred no wing clip had the birds face been centered.
Here's the un-cropped version. I had forgotten how I had cropped it, apparantly to place the face in the center. Looked stupid, to me, with the face in the bottom corner.

Yup, sharpening, especially the eyes will enhance.

    Thanks all!!

Hi John I like the cropped version, you got the wings cut not clipped !! Only way to go !!

Might go and work on the eyes as Lance mentioned, just darken the pupils and will appear sharper. High impact and one good looking image !!!

Hi John - sorry - I thought you meant you had him full frame with all of the wings included.

    Heres what I was thinking...
Sharpened the entire bird a tad.
Sharpened the eyes - maybe a tad bright now?
Also there seemed to be a bit of a halo around him when I enlarged it - created a duplicate layer - set the mode to darken and cloned away the halo.

    Look any better??

Yes, looks a bit better except for the eyes. For me, much too bright.
Thanks to all, again, for your comments and sugestions.

BTW, I do have him full frame but it's a rather ho-hum image.
