It was a treat to see this guy at Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco this past weekend. He's about 8 or 9 feet long!

Very cool, but I have to correct you (I run the 2nd largest reptile site in the world). This is actually a leucistic alligator (not the same as albino). However, in most cases leucistic is more rare than albino so this guy in my opinion is more special.

Did he happen to have blue eyes? Thats usually the easiest way to tell. An albino will have red/pink eyes and a leucistic usually has blue.

Also in reptiles albinos tend to have red, orange and yellow coloring so I would expect a albino alligator to be one of those colors. Then again I maybe making a complete idiot out of myself.

Thanks Shane! I was just assuming? I thought that Steinhart was calling it albino. I am aware of the difference between Albino and leucistic with birds but never thought about it with herps! I do have a closer shot of the eye and I believe that you are correct, not pink! What herp house do you run?
