Here is another from this years trip to Kenya. The migration was in full flow in September and I was fortunate enough to observe Zebras and Wildebeast crossing the rivers.
This image has a happy ending as the Wildebeast escaped the jaws of the crocodile and made it to the "relative" safety of the river bank on the Tanzanian side of the river.
These images of raw nature always have mixed emotion for me. I understand that the hunter gets fed, but the prey dies. In this case I am kind of happy for the wildebeest. Good capture of the action.
awesome capture yet again Austin! love the moment - the open jaws, the wildebeest hurtling through the water, the splashes, and then it ends up having a happy ending...
Great capture and timing Austin.
I had heard that the river crossings were a no show this year due to the low water in Kenya.
Your image proves this very wrong, where exactly was this taken?
Another cracking shot Austin. to die for, excuse the pun. The action is great and the oof croc adds although am undecided as to whether to add a tad canvas on the right due to its proximity to the edge. (Not a crit'). WD!
Lucky Wildebeest - great action captured Austin, and love the sharp detail too. I like the the inclusion of the other croc hopefully waiting for a bite that wasnt going to happen.
Hey Austin,
While I am not usually a fan of OOF animals in the BG....this one is the exception....as it adds to the overall scene......I may take a bit off the top for my tastes.....but this is spectacular action and great moment captured. Doesn't get any better than this!
