Hi, these are a few of the captive alligators in a moat around the Crab Shack in Tybee Island. A fun place to have a rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding! These are not wild animals. they are bred for captive living.

concerning the reflection in the water....any suggestions to keep it from being a light blob in the middle of the photo? It was a cloudy day in a lot of shade because of trees.

    1/100, f3.5, iso 800, 18 mm focal length

Hi Hazel - a Polariser on the camera when you took the shot would have cut down the reflection on the water - You can probably achieve the same sort of effect in PP - Check the educational resources forum.
F3.5 probably was not enough DOF here - with F3.5 you generally use if for selective focus IE: to blur the BG out - didnt matter here, as a result image looks a tad soft. But I do see that your shutter speed was 1/100 th at 800 ISO - If allowed some fill flash might have been the answer here.

Your blacks are blocked in some area's - could have pushed the histogram a little further to the right maybe.

    Keep em coming ;)

Great advice and fully agree !!! One other thing I would do is crop out the top gators .. crop just below the tree !! You are making gators look good !! Excellent image !!
