    Default Woodie Wing Flap

Got a nice angle when this Woodie decided to flap its wings yesterday afternoon. The light was good, and the water looked incredible.

I like the pose, sharpness and water patterns. The whites look a bit blueish on my monitor.

Great wingflap with enough movement blur to be attractive. Love the water drops in the body.

    Doug:

Very nice angle, as mentioned. Having tried a lot of shots to capture the perfect flap on a woodie, I appreciate this a lot. Sharp, well exposed, I do see the very subtle blue tint that Axel mentioned.

Perhaps the smallest sliver more room at the bottom.

It is interesting to see how little neg. EC you had to dial in. On the D700, probably minus 2/3rds to - 1.00.

    Cheers

    Randy

I too am oh for my lifetime with flapping woodies.... This one is perfect. Only a lower angle might have improved it or it might have ruined it....

Randy, Nikon and Canon are totally different. And with a Mark III body this would have been right at +1/3!

Doug, you nailed the colours and exposure on the head nicely, and well timed to capture the flapping wings. Sharp where it counts.
