This one's for Scott since he asked..

This confiding juvenile Hudsonian Godwit was present at Hammonassett SP in CT affording "point and shooters" the opportunity to get shots. Unfortunately, the day I was there the sky was heavily overcast and there was no soft light to be found anywhere. I managed to get out of my car after everyone had gone and lay down on the road -luckily the bird came close enough with my 400 that I was able to get these shots of this scarce migrant.

Great exposure and low angle Julian. Looks like plenty of definition and color for an overcast day.

Very nice Julian! I think the lighting is excellent here, as is the smooth BG, head angle and pose. Clipping the virtual feet gives the bird a short-legged look but I'm fine with this. Well done!

BTW I have the 400/5.6 as well and fine it a super lens.

Thanks Jules, Lovely shot, nice low angle and beautiful background. Can you keep him around for a few more days?

    Great light here Julian.
I find this bird very pretty. Love the BG and grass. I might add canvas on top and bottom, but just a bit.

Hey Jules, Familiar bird there. You did really well to control that light for sure. Nice job.
