    Harris's Hawk on Blooming Yucca

    Roma TX

    D3, 600, ISO 800, f4, 1/6400.

Taken during one of my Feb workshops when the Yucca are blooming.
The ranch owner had planted this yucca a few years back in hopes of getting a Hawk to land on it, and told me that he had yet to do so.
I took it apon myself as a challenge and was able to get the hawk to land there by baiting with small pieces of liver placed on top pf the bloom.
It all came together with sweet evening light and a cooperative bird.
All workshop participants got this shot.

Alan, your stuff is always top notch. Beautiful.

Not much to improve on here, but I would humbly suggest that it might be improved if you were a bit to the right. This would give better separation of the head.

Hey Dan, Didn't you know: Alan gave the best spots to the workshop folks!

Love the cactus and the light but I am not liking the wing position as much as the rest of the folks.

Beautiful pose--very sharp. Love the matching tones of everything in the image, i.e. bird, plant, bg.
The flowering part below the Hawk is a little bright. I might burn it in a little. Also add a little canvas on the right as the wing is very close to the edge. Because the wing tip is pointed close to the edge on the right--your eye tends to follow the tip off he image.
