Very beautiful pose, nesting material is a plus, nice light too, looks like you can recover a bit more in the blacks. TFS

I like the light Marc, together with the gliding posture. A separation of the head and wing would have been good, and maybe dialling in a + EC would have brought out more detail from the underwing.

    Marc:
I like the overall feel of the image, mood. The diagonal framing is good. I would like a bit more room on the right, just so the wing tip isn't quite so crowded.

The exposure is a challenge, because as I opened it up beyond 1/3 stop, the whites start to blow. The noise also started to come up in the underwing area as well. I am somewhat surprised to see that with the D3. Was the image underexposed significantly?

There is also some purple/blotchy color noise starting to show up in the darker areas of the sky on my monitor.

The bill merge is an issue, but less serious because the bright color stands out from the wing nicely.

    Cheers

    Randy

Hi Marc, I let out a low gasp when this one opened. The light is so, so sweet. I am fine with the COMP and there is no bill merge problem. The merge problem is the top of the head with the topt of the wing... The bird's head was raised just a fraction too much.... Still, I love it and the blacks look pretty good to me.

Randy, I had to actually bring the exp down as the whites were nearly +1 overexposed. Hence why the blacks are just about all I can safely retrieve.

This was captured in an area very dear to my hart. I am sure you must have had a great trip.
I love the mood captured. I like this a lot but I could be biased.

Super shot Marc. The light and angle make it for me. There's enough details in the blacks and the nesting material a nice bonus.
