I know on a feeder, not something I like, need to do some rearranging around here. Working on HA, love making images when it is snowing...

    Hi Nonda,

This is a nice composition of one of my favorite birds. The diagonal feeder post along with the nice blurred background looks good. I don't know if it's the crummy monitor I am on right now but overall the birds appears jsut a tad soft.

    BTW, what is "HA"

    Ken,

The image actually can take another run though with smart sharpen:-) Looked plenty sharp enough here, on my monitor, I decided to leave off a bit.

Used a bit more USM and cleaned up some noise in the BG. Hopefully it helped.

Personally I'd be happy with the original image. The sharpened bird is great, but the throat is a bit lost in the sharpened version, Sharpening does lighten an image.
I don't mind the metal rod that the bird is on, but the wire on the join bothers me.... and the weld.
Perhaps if it's not fixed, you could remove the wire for future shots or clone it out ? It's easy to clone out the weld..... or crop it above the wire ?
And crop off a balancing amount from the top ?
The bird is really beautifully photographed.
PS. I'm not sure what the light spots in the BG are. Look like dust spots on a negative (Shudder)
I'd be very tempted to clone them out.
The image is well worth it.

    Eland,

I agree with you on the fist image, but decide to sharpen a bit more anyway. The white stuff is snow:-) I think using the quick mask to get rid of the weld, or cloning will be what I do until I can get some perches set up around the feeders, right now the birds pop into the little maples and they are way to twiggy.

Appreciate your ideas and suggestions, thanks!
