    This is non other than "RC" ..nicest cow elk in the herd !!! She took a liking to Mike and followed him around, it was amazing ... Mike would move and she would just draw a bead on him !!! :)

    What does she have around her neck? It looks like a tracking collar with a transmitter antenna sticking out...:eek::D:cool:

    That's because Mike uses "Elk Spice" cologne

    John I think it goes beyond that but Mike won't tell !!!!

    Gus it is a tracking collar but we suspect is actually a Radio Control device to control the elk :) !!!

    why tracking collar on elk , are they endangered animals ,
    never seen tracking collar on deers here

    Harshad the biologist want to keep track of the herd and they have several cows with collars, seems they are taken a beating from the wolves. The northern herd is down big time !!!

    RC won all our hearts !! She was a definite sweetheart and certainly did take a liking to Mike. Great you captured this image Alfred. That little 10G has been worth it's weight in gold. Gotta get me one :D

    Jackie there are no plans to shoot them that I am aware of, that's how they became extinct (in yellowstone) in the first place. They want it to go back to normal the way it used to be, it will take time to balance it back with re-introduction of the wolves. It amazed me how many people were there wolf watching / tracking.
