Playful Bear Cub

I captured this image on our recent trip to Skyline Drive. At the end of a hike we saw a mom bear and two cubs about 30 yards ahead on a fire road. They let us observe them for quite a while.

40D with 100-400 zoom, ISO 400, EV +1/3, f5.6, 1/250th, hand-held. Image is 80% of original.

Such a cute pose Gail and I like the composition. If it were possible I would like to see a tad more of the habitat as it appears a little tight but still a wonderful capture. Well done and thanks for sharing.

Gail what a great opportunity. I really like the head turn. I'll also add my support for a bit mor space especially for the rear paws.

I'm still hoping to photograph my first wild black bears one day.
