Shot in a brushy field in central NJ, evening before last. Looking straight into the sun I was unable to ID him in the field. Apologies for the large crop and poor light. Is there enough here to ID him? Song Sparrow? But no central breast spot that I could see, and no clear delineation between throat and breast. Savannah? Can't tell if tail is notched but I don't think so. Lincoln's? Doesn't seem very buffy in this light. Perhaps a juvi of one of the above. Are the pink legs a clue?
Another possibility is Vesper, but I don't think so. The face pattern is too bright on this bird
for a Vesper, and the belly is pure white too. We can't see the tail outer feathers if they are white or not here.
The bill is pink, I think this is Savannah.
Sounds like a consensus. Thank you. I went back to the same place this evening, and definitely saw Savannah's, along with Song, Swamp, White-throated, and maybe others. (I may post another image when I've gone through the files.) I appreciate the help.
