These confiding birds are common in the forests and woodlands of eastern Australia. They have the appealing habit of clinging sideways to vertical perches near the ground waiting to pounce on prey as large as small skinks. this one is perched on the flower spike of a grass tree.

I know some will suggest a tighter crop but I wanted to show the size of the bird in relation to the flower spike.

This crop looks just right, showing it's habitat nicely.
Top BG with nice detail on the flower spike and feathers. Only nit would be to remove top white BG highlight.

An interesting perch and I like the bird's position, it looks intent on something. I agree with the top highlight being toned down, but I also think the flower is a bit overpowering to the bird, which could be brightened up a bit perhaps.

I like it Rob. Very typical and great pose! Love it. If I may suggest just try a crop from top to eliminate the bright blob in the ULC and from the left to not see the BG beyond the flower. I was thinking something like this, but the only thing I would love more is the bird to be higher off the centerline. I feel that would enhance the presentation. :) Thanks for sharing Rob.
