Hi Dave, you seem to have your herons sorted. Another sharp image showing good detail. Great contrast between the heron and the BG, and I like that he has building material. If this were mine, I would have blended in the lighter areas in the BG. Doesnt distract from a fine image.

Sweet sharpness and details, BG is pleasing and you got some sweet light. Nesting material adds a behavioral touch to the photo. The area around the eye looks a bit hot but overall exp is very good.

Great in flight shot Dave, with the nesting material taking it up a notch.
Agree with Arash, a little hot around the eye.

    Dave:

I agree with the others that this is a lovely image, and I think that their suggestions for improvement are good. I also feel though that the image is a bit too centered, and I would suggest cropping out about half of the space to the left of and below the image. This would emphasize the space into which the bird is flying.

This repost shows the result of this change. But thanks for sharing this image!

I am a bit confused I have looked at the light area around the eye and I see that the lightest pixels resulting from sharpening are 254 251 255. The general area is in the region of 235 232 225. I dont find any clipped (hot) area with no detail. Am I missing something?

Edit: Norm I agree with your crop.

Dave, Beautiful details in the wing. I do like the crop repost and the nesting material.

Its a nice picture Dave, somehow I am struck between the original and repost here as I really liked the BKGR in the Original and the repost on the position of the bird. The whites are good in the original according to me. Overall a great picture. Congrats!!
