    Default Northern Harrier with Vole

Harrier was maneuvering up wind when it turned back and looked at me in the eye, like I was trying to steal his vole!

    D700 +200-400 f/4 +1.4X TC f/7.1 1/2000 sec ISO 1600.

    Hope you like it.

Lovely exposure, BG, and light. Nice intense stare. The detail on the body seems a bit lacking though, and I wish we could see the other wing. Still a very cool shot.

Arash, there may be a few nit picks on some details here--but I would sure love to have this one for my files.
Not an easy grab--and the action is superb.

Thanks for comments, detail is actually not bad on my screen given distance and ISO here is a 100% crop from RAW . Maybe I should sharpen more  harriers in particular have very soft belly plumage basically white with brown spots.

100% crop from NEF file, No NR applied, notice the texture on the vole.

    Thanks :)

Well now that I see how big of a crop this is, the detail is not very bad. I wouldn't sharpen more as I prefer not to sharpen my master files, though it might help with the jpeg.

Beautiful image Arash, love the head turn and stare and the trailing bit of grass .. fresh meat.

Very unique pose. Only thing missing is the other wing. Detail looks fine to me.

Killer HA. I love the kind of snarling look it is giving you. I like it as posted.

Very nice interaction, the vole adds lots to the image, too bad we can't see
    its head. Good one.

These wonderful head turns in flight just make these shots more personal - as if you know each other. Great timing Arash. I like the wing position as is, and what a great BG. Well captured.

Hi Arash, moment well captured. Pity about the shadow on his face, but good eye contact. He looks as though he is flying down and I would have been tempted to rotate it to fly level.

Great shot and bonus to have the catch. Looks like the focus was on the wing and thus the head and body not as sharp as the wing
