    Default Great Blue Heron

I have not posted in eons it seems. I am finally getting back out there again after being very busy all summer with other projects.
This was taken from a kayak---our herons here in the PNW are very skittish. This guy was unconcerned about us.

Looks good to me Bonnie, nice pose on the Egret, good background, and I like the unique perch too. More interesting than the typical stick.

I like that! This image caught my eye because I shot a heron recently that was in a very similar pose: http://www.pbase.com/clknight/image/117729463

Why did you choose ISO 1000?

Nice EXP, bird, pose, perch, and BKGR. All that you need now is a tuna tower for your kayak

    Hi Colin,
I choose the ISO1000 as there was very little light this day--in fact for most of the morning all of us were at ISO 3200!
The 100-400 is not the fastest lens in the world and shooting from a moving boat--I needed to keep the shutter speed up to make it a bit easier to get a crisp image. The MKIII handles that ISO very well.

    LOL! Hi Artie,
I appreciate your checking this one out. Can you believe it--one is always trying to get lower--and this guy is a bit too high! :);)

Nice soft light, BG, and exposure. I agree that it would better if the heron were eye-level with you.
