    Default Late arrival

    Attached Images Attached Images

Capture late one evening in overcast conditions.
Although this image could have been captured and or processed as a silhouette, I preferred to capture some of the detail on the bird as I feel it adds to the atmosphere.
I would like to ask for comments on the above.

Camera Model Canon EOS-1D Mark III
    Lens EF500mm f/4L IS USM
    Tv (Shutter Speed) 1/5000
    Av (Aperture Value) 4.0

The image casts an intriguing mood, Dave.
While the artistic debate on silhouette vs. partial silhouette would be interesting, I think you made the correct call to include bird details.
Comp is good for an overall pleasing image.

Looks like "Sacred Ibis Coming in to Roost" that you posted on Oct. 11th.
I think I like that version better.

Lovely shot Dave. Bill has voiced this very well. I like the balance and detail you have retained and feel it creates a wonderful feel and mood. Well done.

Some people have already taken the time to offer comments and critiques, therefore I think we should let the thread stand. I like the overall mood, and I like the incoming landing pose. Good placement of the subject within the frame. I would reduce the bluish cast on the plumage, and I find that the branches get distractingly lost within the OOF trees...

I like the bird and pose, details on it are OK IMO.
I would blur the branches completely and get rid of the
    ones sticking out.

Ah, senility enjoys company. I would go for the total SILH look. I think that I said the same thing the first time around!
