Real nice one, Steve. The buck is in a great position in the frame. The fall grasses and the yuccas make for a nice layered texture and depth. Excellent image, and I knew it was yours when the thumbnail popped up. Impresive capture.

    Striking action here, Steve.
Exposure, comp and focus all excellent, and the soft light is a huge plus, as the colors are allowed to emerge nicely.
While some may suggest you clone the twigs seen on its front and rear body, I generally favor keeping it natural in action shots like this where the animal is obviously in a complex environment.
It will be great to see more as their season progresses.

Looks good to me. I like the colours and the diagonal composition.

The diagonal comp works very well Steve, and love the the overall exposure and colours. The buck is nice and sharp, and if I had to change anything, I would liked to have seen a bit more at the bottom. Still well captured. ( hope you werent caught out in the open from the storm. )

Hi Steve. Very nice action pose. Looks like this guy is moving with a purpose. I like the habitat, colors, and diagonal comp. In a perfect world, I would like to see just a bit more room at the bottom to include the rest of the yucca - but, as you say, this is full frame - and the image still works very well as presented. Well done.

Great compo with sweet colors. The dark antlers really look good. It would make a nice postcard :

Good shot Steve, are they are harder to get photos once hunting season starts. In Michigan once firearm season gets here the whitetails become nocturnal and I will have to wait until after firearm season before I head out again.

This is just gorgeous Steve. Love the action you captured and a very lovely composition with the diagonal as well as the beautiful touches of color. A winner for sure !!!!!

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions.

Stuart, no worries on the storm, mostly just clouds and wind until after I was safe and warm at home :)

Curly, there's a lot of wildlife corridors and open spaces weaving through neighborhoods close to where I live so hunting's not allowed. In the areas where there is hunting though, they're just like any other deer and know when to make themselves scarce.

Steve I love the sense of fast action and this lad has a good sized rack as well. Thanks for sharing.
