Hi Ken, Im really enjoying your Polar bear series. Super comp, Im amazed how large these wonderful bears are. Well exposed throughout the image, and good to see the surrounding ice. Well captured.

Terrific image, I love how the front portion is glowing (is it the fading light...). Very eye pleasing image.

Beautiful light and overall capture here... I really like the broken ice formations in the background showing the environment some of these big guys... awesome stuff. :)

    Ken,
This is nice. I like the mood here. Nice environmental image. Did you find more broken ice this year?

    Cheers,

Actually in spite of what you may have read elsewhere the ice is everywhere around Svalbard, we were unable to head south from Nordaustlandet (the futhest north and right hand side of the archipeligo) because of the thickness of the ice, not that the crew did not try. We travelled 4 knots in 12 hours and then turned back the way we came.
Thanks for all of your comments it was a privilege to be there, and capture a little of the magic.

Beautiful image Ken. What a privilege to have had the opportunity to see these beauties. Excellent exposure and detail in the whites. Thanks for sharing.

Nice contrast between the seemingly warmer light on the fur and the cooler blue of the ice and water. Very nice detail as well.

Ken, the colors, light, pose, and textures of fur, snow, and water bring this to life. Excellent.
