Default Sapphire-vented Puffleg (Cover of my new book)

The gorgeous Sapphire-vented Puffleg is a resident of the Ecuadorian highlands. This specimen had been perched on this flower and I managed this frame as it lifted off.

This photo is the cover shot for my new book - "Birds in Ecuador: A Photographic Journey" which is available for order now through my website. The book project is intended to raise funds for habitat conservation in Ecuador. As a result 50% of all proceeds from this book will go directly to the Mindo Cloudforest Foundation - a not-for=proffit group in Ecuador that seeks to link bird tourism with conservation action.

For more information see the link below. The Mindo Cloudforest Foundation, me, and of course the birds thank you for your support :)

A fine image for the cover of your new book. The bird is beautiful. Love the position of the bird. If I were to do only one thing to the image, it would be to tone down the flash reflections on the leaves just a touch. Congrats on your new book and for your generosity in donating 50% to the Mindo Cloudforest Foundation.

Congrats on your new book Glenn. This is one killer image, and the IQ in this is simply outstanding. Love the flying pose, with him flying parallel to the perch. Amazing light and colours, and the whole image is pin sharp. Congrats on an outstanding image too.

REAlly nice one. Like the pose and BG and well exposed. Why does the bird look pasted on the image?

    What a stunner!

Love everything here, this bird certainly looks like is coming out of the screen, well done.
