Took this in my garden. They are very skittish and shy and difficult to get without coming to some sort of agreement, such as "feed me". Even then, they can be quite disloyal. :). D3 & 500 AF-SII. Bean bag on window sill. 1/500 f5.6 ISO 400, -0.67.

Really like the background and the perch...exposure looks just right.

A bit more of a head turn would have been optimal so the beak was fully seen.

Perhaps lighten the eye a bit?

    It is a beautiful subject.

Very pretty bird. BG is great. Love the contrasting colors between bird and BG.

Good job Dave with the combination of perch. background and pose. They are quite a tricky exposure, especially the white rump but it has been handled very well here. I love photographing jays and never tire of them. I working on some Jays at the moment to try and get some flight photos but they are a bit preoccupied with hiding away acorns at the moment!

    Cheers

Nice exposure, sharp, great background and perch. I am guessing the HA guys will request a slight turn but I am not calibrated for that yet.

Hey Dave, you captured the look back pose nicely, and as Im not familiar with these guys, I just love those blue eyes, and the striking blue on the wing. I like the overall colour on him too. Killer BG, and well captured.

This must be one of the most beautiful jays that I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing. If anything, I would crop a tad on top.

Super IQ dave. I like just about everything here, detail, colour, exposure, light ,BG and HA all good.
I would prefer the see the bird a little to the left with a tad more space on the right. (head closer to horizontal 1/3)

That blue eye could put you in a trance! Very nice detail, good exposure, and a lovely green BG. I only wish you had slightly more of a head turn.
