Love the colors here, wish for better angle on the duck. Did I notice your back to using Canon gear? Any reason for the switch? Congrats
except HA everything is spot on , awesome colors

Beautiful setting handled nicely.
Lacks sharpness. Looks like the 600 doesn't handle the 2x very well.

Awesome colors Fabs, great ambiance with soft colors. I wonder why you left more space on the bottom? Also it looks a bit soft on my screen maybe a very heavy crop?

Well, I'm going to start the week off wrong by saying that this one doesn't do it for me Fabs.....so here is my "critique done gently".
IMHO, the bird is way too high in the crop, and it's going / heading out of frame too much.
The bright yellows on the left front and left half of the image draw my eyes entirely away from the subject.
The rear of the bird looks too hot and the front of the face is lost in shadow.
Overall, the histogram is more than a little too the right?
Given that I just re-calibrated my monitor(s), I think what I'm seeing at least appears to be what you actually presented.

Im here with Jim.
Actually, I was afraid to read your reply Fabs but I sucked it up since my post simply indicated what my eyes were telling me :)
It doesn't matter what equipment any of us use IMHO...the only thing which matters is the outcome :)
BTW....was it noise characteristics you didn't like on the D300????? The 300S is slightly better relative to noise and definitely better relative to AF integrity / speed and tracking.
Jim, D300 was always noise and slow to me compared to D3. At 500 ISO you need to use noise reduction. The only way I used ISO 3200 was for macro, where there is no feather detail to loose.
As far as light angle goes, I like to play with all angles, my personal view, of course, not BPN related. The ducks face is almost in a ROT position and I cropped the top because water was better under him.
Anyways, the goal here is to say what we see with honesty and that's what you did.
Not all think or see the same way, luckily, or we have even more wars.
No harm done :)
I am being honest that I am pretty much with Jim too. But mostly for the image looks too bright for me and the HA as well. If I didn't know you posted it Fabs, I would never have guessed it was you. :)
