    Default Northern Harrier (7D)

I was having a slow morning when this harrier suddenly appeared nearby, and explored this shrub. I have a couple other frames where the face is showing more, but I liked the behavior of this particular image with the wing span and the eyes focused on where to land... :) Also thought others might like seeing this one as this is full frame. Captured out at the Farmington Bay WMA here in northern Utah.

    EOS 7D w/ 500 f/4 plus 1.4TC
    1/2500 f/6.3 iso400, handheld
No Crop, DPP, minor PS adjustments

    Comments always greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for looking,
    John

I agree, John, that is quite the wing display!
And it certainly does, in my estimation, overcome the challenge of the head position.
The sky tones are fascinating and very colorful.
This image breaks the standard mold in lots of ways, and I like that.

Sweet image. I really like the full wing spread. While the head is down, the image still has a lot of power. I see from the specs this is with a 500 f/4. New lens? :):)

John, well timed to show the full wingspread, and the the lack of eye contact doesnt bug me. I like the extended legs with talons ready for the landing, and the inclusion of the foliage below adds to the image. Well captured.

Very nice spread John! I would only love to see a bit more foliage if you have it. Excellent light! :)
