I think I'm right about the Id. I snapped this picture last week on Sanibel Beach. They don't stay still very long. The data=f/8, 1/800, 0ev, ISO 100, 500mm. I used my Sony A100 and a Sigma 50-500mm lens. Thanks for looking, John

Good stuff, low angle, nice exposure, generally I do not use ISO 100, too low - restricts shutter speed.

Head on shots showing 1 & 1/2 eyes can be awkward, overall nice image - well done.

You sure this isn't a plover?

It's a Black-bellied (or Grey) Plover - note the stout bill and big eyes. Sanderling would be half this size only. Plovers usually feed with a stop-start motion, so get them on the stop...

Hi John, I like the pose and the soft BG. Nice low angle. Looks to me like the image could do with just a little CCW rotation, and a little more room on the bottom. I would also crop a bit from the top and right. Well done!

I first thought Black Bellied Plover but this is quite small, maybe 6-8 inches and I thought Black Bellied Plovers were 12''. I am not very good at Id'ing these shorebirds. I'll go with the majority. Thanks, John

Looks like a Black-bellied in non breeding plumage !!

Neat capturing angle, would give a little more room at the bottom and move the bird slightly left. PS wise might lighten the left side of the bird. Neat capture John !!

Good job on getting the low angle.

Love the low angle, the walking pose and the bubbles on the ground adds. Agree about the CCW rotation. I see a little bit of halo around the bird or it could just be my imagination.

It's a Grey Plover (or Black-bellied) Pluvialis squatarola, not Sanderling.
    Nice angle and pose.
