Default Two juvenile male Lions on a Sitatunga.

We came across 2 sub-adult males that had just taken down a Sitatunga
and were trying to drag it under some cover out of the midday sun.
This is a very rare occurrence for Lion to prey upon this water based antelope.
Our guide Ewan, with 27 years experience in Botswana had never seen this before.
    A special sighting indeed!
A shame the lighting conditions were quite harsh.
    Xakanaxa region- Okavango Delta.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers
    Marc

Hi Marc, to witness any kill in the wild is an experience. Good sharp detail on the lioness, and the blood on her face adds to the image. I would have liked to see a bit more of the buck below.

Thanks Stuart, they were both sub adult male Lions that had most likely been kicked out of their pride.
I have a few with both more of the ram and Lion with my 70-200, wasn't easy to get more of them in at this distance with my 500.

I would honestly believe that this behaviour has not been photographed before.
I must admit that I would prefer to have seen a photo of a live Situnga, also a pretty rare sighting!

    Thanks Ken
According to Ewan that was also his understanding.

Well composed image Marc. Dont know much about the antelope species. But, reading your story this should be a very special image.
