    Default Pine Grosbeak Set-up

Pine Grosbeak on Crabapple - female

    D1X, 600, ISO 250, f7, 1/180, fill @ -2.0.

Once the Finches were used to the location of the bird feeder, I closed off the feeder ports and set up a crabapple perch next to it to get this feeding shot. I did get the males posing and feeding, but I like this feeding pose of the female.

Thanks for sharing a nice image with a good explanation of your setup technique. I know very little about setup photography, and I intend to buy your CD so that I can expand my photographic horizons.

Excellent. I love the berries, the BG, and the soft light. Tack sharp, and excellent flash work. I saw this on the cover of WildBird.

    Well Done!

Sweet. My favorite part of this image is that orange-yellow rump. Where was this image created?

Love the upside down pose on this one and the colors all work together nicely. Great use of fill.

Hi James, I am still not sure what happened. We did have some problems with sending the Bulletin but we thought that they were all cleared up and that the entire list finally got 301. Glad that you found it :) The notice will of course be repeated over time.

I have been inspired to set-up my backyard....

Wonderful choice of setup to compliment the bird's coloration. Nicely done!

Great choice of background color to not overpower bird coloration and enhance it.

There has been so much chatter about the new bodies coming out as of late and I just noticed this was shot with the D1X !

Having been out the field with Alan trying to learn some of this stuff it really amazing how well thought out his approach is. Look its not easy, he had me breaking my *** out in the TX heat but the images were well worth it.

I preordered the book because after his NWPLI session I realized how much that even though I have done it side by side that I could use the book as a refesher.

    Lou
