This is a very attractive image Simon. The bird is gorgeous and the lighting shows off the subject well. This is a tough exposure with the white throat and you nailed it on my monitor. The eye is superb and I'm impressed with the easy sharpness of the image. I wouldn't change a thing.

I don't remember seeing this species before, thanks for sharing. I like the soft light, sharpness, complementing BG and the food item adds to it. If anything a smaller perch would have been great but I like it as presented.

Simon, well exposed, sharp with good detail. Good looking eye, and his catch a bonus. If anything, I would take a bit off the bottom.

    Wonderful image, Simon.
Sharp, well exposed, great active pose and dark, smooth background. The unusual insect pupa prey completes it.

You have great details, colors, sharpness & BG here. Wish for a smaller perch to help accentuate the bird. The "meal" is a huge plus.

Excellent image Simon! Love the clean BG and the prey. I am curious though whether you used call playback to get this male within photography range? :)

Thank you all for your commnets. Akos, I used a bit of playback to attract him. He spotted the case moth and flew to this perch to consume it. I was under kwik camo blind.
